The architecture seems to grow out of the mountain itself, blending seamlessly with the landscape. Its design follows the natural contours of the mountain, connecting tradition and modernity, past and future, in one harmonious form. Built from natural materials such as wood and stone, and with large glass walls that open to breathtaking views of Učka and the Kvarner Bay, the building itself becomes a viewpoint. Every detail of this contemporary design and natural materials combination tells a simple message: modern society can — and should — coexist in harmony with nature.

The Poklon Centre was developed with a strong focus on sustainability. In every aspect – from construction and interior design to management and educational programmes – the philosophy of respect for nature is integrated, contributing to the development of sustainable tourism in the region.

Its innovative, landscape-inspired design and immersive interior have earned it numerous national and international awards, including the MUSE Creative Awards, BigSEE Tourism Design Award, and ZGDW Award.

In addition to the exhibition, the Centre also houses an info point, souvenir shop, café bar, as well as educational and conference facilities. It also serves as the headquarters of the Učka Nature Park Public Institution, making it the true heart of the Park’s activity.

Located on the Poklon mountain pass, which geographically connects the Istrian peninsula and Kvarner, as well as the Učka and Ćićarija mountain ranges, the Centre is an ideal starting point for discovering this protected area and its features. It’s also the perfect place to find out the secrets hidden in the mountain and to plan adventures.

The Poklon Visitor Centre offers every visitor, whether local or from another part of the world, the opportunity to experience the diverse values of this region, contributing to an increased awareness of  nature and its preservation. Through rich multimedia displays, virtual experiences, and captivating storytelling, the exhibition guides the visitors on an engaging, educational, and enjoyable journey through the cultural and natural heritage of Učka Nature Park – from the formation of the mountain, through its natural phenomena and tradition, to the architecture and everyday life on Učka.

The exhibition guides visitors through themed sections – In the Mountain, Home, Fascination, Inspiration, and From the Top of Učka. Using multimedia projection, diverse sounds, and interactive installations, you can hear the forest whisper, see the world from the highest peak of Učka, and meet the wildlife that calls the mountain home. This way, you can see Učka Nature Park in a completely different way.

Visitors can unwind here after touring the exhibition, hiking, cycling, or enjoying other outdoor activities for which Učka Nature Park is an ideal setting. Next to the café terrace, there is also a children’s playground and a small climbing wall for children. A public drinking fountain is located here too, providing pure Učka spring water – a refreshing taste of the mountain itself.

Right from the doorstep of the Centre, well-marked trails invite you to explore, including the trail to the highest peak of Učka – Vojak. The Poklon Visitor Centre is also the perfect starting point for exploring the entire Park. Visitors can rent e-bikes, grab a map, and head off to discover hidden viewpoints and peaceful forest paths of Učka and Ćićarija. They can also get some information about easier trails that are perfect for all generations, or for those who wish to further discover this area on one of the educative trails. Whether you’re a casual walker or an experienced hiker, there’s a route for everyone.
