Učka Nature Park, located along the Kvarner coast and the Istrian peninsula, is renowned for its spectacular views, diverse trails, rich flora and fauna, and numerous opportunities for active recreation. At the heart of the Park, on the Poklon Pass, lies the Poklon Visitor Centre. This centre serves as the starting point for many visitors who come to Učka to hike, walk, run, and enjoy nature –and increasingly, for those wishing to explore Učka and Ćićarija by bike.
For this reason, e-bike rentals at the Poklon Visitor Centre are an excellent addition to the Park’s offerings.

Electric bikes allow visitors to explore larger areas, conquer steeper climbs with less effort, and enjoy nature at a relaxed pace without exhaustion. The Poklon Visitor Centre is an ideal starting point, located at an altitude of 930 meters, with access to numerous trails leading to different parts of the Park, including the highest peak, Vojak (1,401 m).

E-Bike Rentals

E-bikes are available for rent at the Poklon Visitor Centre. Bikes can be picked up and returned during the opening hours of the Centre. The Centre is open daily throughout the year: in summer (June, July, August, September), it is open 9:00 – 19:00, and during the rest of the year, it is open 9:00 – 16:00.

The number of bikes is limited, so advance reservations are recommended, especially from May to September, when e-bike riding is most popular. Reservations for e-bike rentals can be made via info@pp-ucka.hr or +385 51 770 100.

The bikes are equipped with motors offering several levels of assistance, allowing you to control the power of the electric boost. This is especially useful on steeper sections of trails and climbs to the peak. E-bike rental also includes a helmet, and a child seat is available for an additional fee.

E-bikes offer pedal assistance which reduces fatigue when climbing peaks like Vojak or ascending the Ćićarija plateau.

Important Information for E-Bike Users

Bike Reservations and Pickups

Since the number of e-bikes available for rent is limited, it is recommended to reserve your bike in advance. Before your arrival, check the opening hours of the Poklon Visitor Centre. When picking up the bikes, you must present a valid ID (identity card or passport).

Battery and Range

On the most demanding routes or long climbs, the battery will drain faster. Plan your route according to the battery capacity and keep in mind that ascents require more power. When planning your route, consult the staff at the Poklon Visitor Centre to choose a route that matches your fitness level and technical ability.

Technical Difficulty and Terrain

Cycling routes of Učka Nature Park include asphalt roads, gravel roads, and forest paths. Riding on gravel, depending on the condition of the section, may require more advanced riding skills. If you lack MTB experience or are unsure about riding on more challenging terrain, consult the Poklon Visitor Centre staff regarding trail difficulty.

Summer challenges: heat on exposed sections, gravel trails (that may be dusty or slippery).
Winter or rainy periods: mud, slippery surfaces, difficult conditions, possible landslides on certain sections.

Rules and Responsibility

Riding outside designated cycling trails, roads, and paths is not permitted. Riding on hiking and walking trails is strictly prohibited.
Wearing a helmet is mandatory.
You must follow the Code of Conduct in Učka Nature Park.
Respect nature and other trail users: walkers, hikers, and runners.

The Park offers 8 marked MTB trails of different categories, totaling 180 km, passing through varied landscapes. In a single day, you can enjoy views of the Rijeka Bay, the island of Cres, and coastal towns, and then, while ascending to higher altitudes, you can experience the beauty of Učka and the Ćićarija plateau.

Road Cycling

For road cycling enthusiasts, the climb from the Opatija Riviera to the Vojak peak is particularly attractive. The road passes the Poklon Pass and the Poklon Visitor Centre, which is an ideal rest stop before the final ascent. The Poklon Visitor Centre features a café, restrooms, and a drinking fountain with fresh Učka spring water which is not chemically treated.
